Climate action measures
V. FRAAS GmbHis actively committed to climate protection as a ClimatePartner customer with the following concrete measures.
Preparation of the CO2-Footprint of the companyThe Corporate Carbon Footprint, or CCF for short, is the carbon footprint of every company. These are calculated according to international standards such as the Greenhouse Gas Protocol. To do this, the system boundaries are first defined: Which areas in the company are considered, and to what degree are indirect emissions - for example, from purchased services - included? The next step is to record consumption data, research relevant emission factors and calculate the emissions. The result is a detailed evaluation and documentation of the individual CO2 footprint. A basis for the next steps.
Determination of reduction potentialsA climate action strategy includes all measures to reduce CO2. The CO2 balance sheet shows where the greatest reduction potential lies and appropriate measures can be derived. A comparison of several fiscal years shows the success.
Calculation of the carbon footprint of productsThe Product Carbon Footprint (PCF), the CO2 footprint of a product, is also calculated according to current international standards. The PCF refers to the life cycle of a product - from raw materials and production to delivery ("cradle-to-gate") or further over the useful life to disposal ("cradle-to-grave"). The Product Carbon Footprint is derived from the company's carbon footprint and can be calculated on a product- or order-specific basis.
Offsetting the carbon footprintDespite reduction, a residual emission always remains. This can be offset by supporting a recognized climate protection project. This makes the product or company climate-neutral. Offsetting CO2 emissions is an important step in holistic climate protection, alongside avoidance and reduction. There are different standards for climate protection projects: for example, the Gold Standard, Verified Carbon Standard, Fairtrade Climate Standard or the Climate, Community and Biodiversity Standard. V. FRAAS has been using the product offset in the Verified Carbon Standard since 2019.
