Climate action measures
infinite power for all of us - in a sustainable way!Every day the employees of neoom drive the energy transition forward. With our products and services, we help our customers - from industrial companies to municipalities and private individuals - to switch to decentralized, renewable energy as well as e-mobility. However, that is not enough for us. We have become a climate neutral company to show others that even more is possible! While CO2 offsetting is an important component of our sustainability strategy, a major building block is the reduction of CO2 emissions, which has top priority for us and our customers. Achieving climate neutrality is just a first step on our sustainability journey: Together with our customers and through our installed products, neoom seeks to save 1 gigaton of CO2 emissions! Thereby we want to become the first Gigacorn.
Corporate Carbon Footprint Being a trusted partner in the energy transition, means starting with doing better yourself. Therefore, the first pillar of the sustainability strategy at neoom is "measure". We calculated our corporate carbon footprint and took a close look at emissions from Scope 1, 2 and 3 with a clear goal to evaluate the impact of our operations. The key indicator for neoom here is the CO2 footprint per employee. This number enables comparability from year to year despite the changing size of the company and was 6.6 tons per employee in 2021. The aim is now to reduce this value every year! You can read more about the "shoe size" of our corporate carbon footprint and everything related to the relevant calculation methods here: Walking in the right direction with the carbon footprint & CCF - more than just a number Learn more
Reducing CO2 emissions Calculations are important to know where you stand. But if you want to make progress, you must be active: That is why the second pillar of our sustainability strategy is to reduce our calculated emissions. We achieve this, among other things, with a vehicle fleet that already consists of 70 percent electric vehicles and will be completely converted to e-mobility by 2030 at the latest. Using the train or EVs for corporate travel is already the norm for us, flights at neoom are only booked in exceptional cases. Meanwhile, decarbonizing employee commute in the rural area of our headquarters in Freistadt, Austria is another challenge that we are tackling together. Finally, our Team Green, an interdisciplinary team of neoom employees, is always looking for new solutions and ways to bring sustainability into our company and the daily lives of our employees! What we need to achieve the transition to a low carbon economy happens to align perfectly with our company motto: “Infinite power for all of us” Learn more
Offsetting remaining CO2 emissions Even those who are ahead of their time cannot be perfect immediately. That is why we decided to offset our emissions. Thereby, we actively contribute to closing the financing gap for sustainable development in developing countries. Together with our employees, the neoom decided on the "Plastic Bank" Gold Standard carbon offset project. With its "Social Plastic" approach, this project supports circular economy efforts, protecting the environment and creating jobs at the same time. The project is coupled with a certified carbon offset project for wind energy in the Philippines. Clean and affordable electricity is produced from wind there, an important component of the energy transition and a great counterpart to the rooftop solar and battery storage neoom focuses on day-to-day. In the fight against the climate crisis, we also believe in supporting innovative technologies and making sure these come to market. Therefore, we additionally invested the equivalent of 50 percent of the costs for CO2 offsetting in the Swiss company Climeworks. Here, previously emitted CO2 is extracted from the atmosphere using the “direct air capture” method. The road might seem long, but if every company does its part, we can contribute to creating a healthier, cleaner and more sustainable world. Learn more
