FERRARI TRENTO: FROM ORGANIC TO CARBON NEUTRAL COMPANYFounded in 1902, Ferrari Trento is Italy's leading sparkling wine producer. It is a symbol of the Italian “Art of Living, and it accompanies the most memorable moments in the world of business, culture, entertainment, and sport. Sustainability has always been a part of Ferrari Trento's DNA, and over the years the company has been actively working on environmental and social issues.
Renewable EnergyAlongside the agricultural activities, other significant actions have been carried out at the winery: in 2010 a large photovoltaic system was installed, and in 2014 new home automation systems were introduced in the offices, which guarantee significant energy savings. Since 2021, the electricity purchased by the company has been coming from 100% renewable and certified sources, which resulted in the reduction in emissions by 989 tonnes of CO2 equivalent. Additionally, a cooling system, which uses zero Global Warming Potential gas has been purchased.
Commitment to a more sustainable future continuesFerrari Trento's commitment to sustainability also includes ambitious projects for the near future: in addition to a programme aiming at improving the water and energy efficiency of its activities, the company is building an underground cellar, which will be completed in 2024. This cellar will reduce the emissions associated with wine ageing, eliminating transport to external cold rooms and reducing the energy needed for cooling.
Organic AgricultureA strong desire to protect the land and the health of those working in the countryside and in the winery led to the introduction of a healthy and sustainable mountain viticulture protocol in 2014. This was shared with 600 farmers who cultivate grapes. In 2017, the company obtained organic certifications for all the vineyards it owns, which was added to the "Biodiversity Friend" certification obtained in 2015.
