Climate action measures
Climate action measures - measure, reduce, and compensate - as a component of the “Count & Last” initiative of the European Championships Munich 2022:To fulfill the vision of leaving an inspiring and sustainable legacy for all visitors, the City of Munich and upcoming sporting events, the organisers of the European Championships Munich 2022 have initiated the sustainability programme “Count & Last”. In addition to 12 interactive projects, “Count & Last” comprises the sustainability strategy of Munich 2022 with six focus topics and around 70 measure ideas. According to ClimatePartner's calculation of the event’s carbon footprint, transport and mobility account for the largest share of CO₂ emissions (around 65%). The organisers are therefore paying special attention to this area and are taking climate-friendly measures to keep carbon emissions as low as possible. For example, the venue concept was developed according to the principle of "short distances" and a free public transport ticket will be provided with each ticket purchase. In cooperation with ClimatePartner, visitors are offered the opportunity to offset an average event visit with a climate contribution based on travel activities, event consumption, and accommodation. Ultimately, unavoidable CO₂ emissions from the main emitters of Munich 2022 will be offset with ClimatePartner by supporting international, certified carbon offset projects. Learn more
