Sofidel Group: creating shared value for people and the planet
The Sofidel Group is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of tissue paper solutions for daily hygiene and personal well-being. The Group is constantly working to minimize its impact on natural capital, encourage the transition to a low-carbon economy, and create shared value for all its stakeholders, helping to create a positive future for people and the planet. Sustainability is a strategic lever fully integrated into the growth model that guides the Group’s industrial choices along the entire value chain: from the commitment to improve the sustainability standards of the supply chain, to the use of 100% pulp certified by independent third parties, to efficient and cutting-edge production processes, to the location of its plants near distribution markets to reduce the impact of transport.

Forest Protection and Responsible Pulp Supply
100% of the virgin pulp used by the Group is managed according to strict environmental, social and economic standards guaranteed by independent third parties: FSC®, FSC Controlled Wood, PEFC™. All Sofidel suppliers – including pulp companies (supplying the raw material of the papermaking process) – are selected according to a rigorous sustainability performance evaluation system focused on environmental sustainability, respect for human rights, working conditions, and the fight against corruption.

Topa Packaging
Sofidel joined the WWF Climate Savers program in 2008, committing to an ambitious voluntary emission reduction target achieved in 2020: -24% in direct CO2 emissions compared to 2009. The new 2030 target, approved by the Science Based Targets initiative – SBTi, calls for a 40% reduction in scope 1, scope 2, and scope 3 emissions (related to its suppliers’ pulp production operations) compared to 2018. The Group is committed to increasing energy efficiency measures, the use of cogeneration plants, and the use of energy from renewable sources from newly-built plants.

Reduction in the Use of Conventional Plastic
Sofidel has set a target to reduce the incidence of conventional plastics in its production by 50% by 2030, compared to 2013. The goal is being pursued through the reduction in the thickness of the plastic film used in the production process, the use of recycled plastics or bioplastics and, as preferred option, the introduction of new kraft paper packaging. In fact, paper is a plant-based material, therefore renewable, easily recyclable and effectively recycled in most of the markets where Sofidel’s products are present.
