A certified climate project combined with additional commitment

This combined project contributes to the financing of a certified climate project and additionally supports nature conservation in Germany. For every tonne of CO2 saved through the contribution via a certified climate project, a financial contribution goes to a nature conservation project in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. In this way, we enable the protection of existing peatlands there and also promote the rewetting of peatlands that were drained in the past. Intact peatlands not only store large amounts of CO2, but are also important habitats for endangered animal and plant species.

Currently, the nature conservation is combined with a certified climate project in India (climatepartner.com/1610). The project enables people to switch from inefficient and environmentally harmful practices to solar lamps and water filters. Combined climate projects to date: microloans for solar lamps + water filters, countrywide, India (climatepartner.com/1602), afforestation, Bijie, China (climatepartner.com/1508).

Our additional commitment: a financial contribution for every tonne of CO2 reduced

With our combined project, we combine verified emission reductions through a certified climate project with an additional commitment to regional nature conservation. European ecosystems are also affected by climate change. Our regional nature conservation initiatives are therefore committed to preserving or restoring natural habitats and adapting them to climatic changes.

Possible project activities include the protection and conversion of native forests, the conservation of animal and plant biodiversity, peatland restoration, or the conversion of agricultural land. The certified climate project is registered with international standards.

Contribution to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
Clean Water and SanitationThe project supports the restoration of drained peatlands. Intact and restored peatlands absorb and store rainwater like a sponge. Thus they are a great water reservoir and protect against soil erosion and flooding. They also contribute to high groundwater quality.
Climate ActionPeatlands store a particularly large amount of CO2 and thus have a stabilising effect on the climate.
Life on LandPeatlands are an important habitat for many specialised and endangered animal and plant species, such as the bittern, a heron species, and the sundew, a carnivorous plant.
