A certified climate project combined with additional commitmentThis combined project contributes to the financing of a certified climate project and additionally supports forest protection in Switzerland. For every tonne of CO2 saved through the contribution via a certified climate project, another tonne of CO2 is reduced through the forest protection in Switzerland. Here the Oberallmeindkorporation (OAK) Schwyz protects the forest by sustainable management according to the FSC guidelines so that its function as a carbon sink is maintained.
Currently, the project in Switzerland is combined with a certified hydropower project in India (climatepartner.com/1484). This project generates electricity from renewable energy sources and feeds it into the North Indian grid. This gives more people in India access to clean energy and reduces bottlenecks in the power supply.
Our additional commitment: CO2 sequestration through forest protectionWith our combined project, we combine verified emission reductions through a certified climate project with additional commitment. European ecosystems are also affected by climate change and forest protection is playing an important role: Forests are not only among the planet's most important carbon sinks. They also are home to an enormous diversity of species and are the livelihood for all people.
Our additional commitment takes this into consideration and supports forest protection in Europe. These projects ensure that forests are preserved in the long term and that the protection of forests is given a higher value than their deforestation. The certified climate project is registered with international standards.
