A certified climate project combined with additional commitment

This combined project contributes to the financing of a certified climate project and additionally supports nature conservation in Austria. For every tonne of CO2 saved through the contribution via a certified climate project, a financial contribution flows to the Karwendel Nature Park. This is done, for example, by planting hedges or creating flower strips and ponds. In this way, we enable a wide range of activities that preserve local ecosystems and support the training of climate educators. Find more information about nature conservation in Austria in our fact sheet. Currently, the nature conservation is combined with a certified wind project in Turkey (climatepartner.com/1525). The wind turbines generate renewable energy, which is fed into the local grid and thus reduce the need for fossil energy sources. Combined climate projects to date: solar energy project, several states, India (climatepartner.com/1429), forest protection, Pará, Brazil (climatepartner.com/1056) and forest protection, Mataven, Colombia (climatepartner.com/1288 and climatepartner.com/1402).

Our additional commitment: a financial contribution for every tonne of CO2 reduced

With our combined project, we combine verified emission reductions through a certified climate project with an additional commitment to regional nature conservation. European ecosystems are also affected by climate change. Our regional nature conservation initiatives are therefore committed to preserving or restoring natural habitats and adapting them to climatic changes.

Possible project activities include the protection and conversion of native forests, the conservation of animal and plant biodiversity, peatland restoration, or the conversion of agricultural land. The certified climate project is registered with international standards.

Contribution to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
Quality EducationA qualification in climate education imparts expert knowledge on climate change and methods of climate change education. In addition, nature park tours and hands-on activities are an important part of environmental education.
Clean Water and SanitationIntact and restored peatlands contribute to high water quality.
Climate ActionPeatlands store a particularly large amount of CO2 and thus have a stabilising effect on the climate.
Life on LandThe protection of deadwood is a key factor for diversity in the forest and a prerequisite for the ccurrence of birds, insects, fungi, and lichens. Peatlands are home to many protected animal and plant species.
